Slayn and Korpil V-15 Vanguard Heavy Interceptor

The V-15 Vanguard was a Pre-Clone Wars design by Slayn and Korpil, a precursor to the V-19 Torrent starfighter. The Vanguard was design to keep pace with the fastest starfighters of its time and deliver a knockout punch to the fighters that had been stripped down to allow for more speed, the Vanguard did not do this as it used a pair of high thrust engines capable to propelling it forward with ease despite its heavy weapons loadout. While the Vanguard did possess a hyperdrive it was a slow but reliable Class 15 model and while it wasn't ideal for the task, it was all that was capable of fitting in the limited amount of space available on the Vanguard. The Vanguard was used from the start of the war as the first Republic Interceptor, by the end of the war it was one of many but it was the most heavily armed. After the wars end the V-15 Vanguard was retired from service, this did not stop the Vanguard from being snatched up by the Rebellion en mass when they became available. The V-15 Vanguard would serve with the Rebellion for a number of years before being sidelined by the newer and better suited A-Wing series, despite this the V-15 Vanguard would remain in service for a number of years further.
